John's mother died at his birth.  The other males in his family worked at
the lime kill and died of TB.  John was blind in one eye and was in the home
guard.

Amanda was is the 1850 Parke Co, IN, census, living with the James Moyers
family.

The family evidentally migrated from IN to Johnson Co, KS between 1860 and
1865. They migrated on to Greenwood Co, KS, in a covered wagon about 1875.
