CE'PTU XVII. Chapter 17
IwcI kanmI kwe'pmosatmowat E'mpoponisuk, ipi E'pononie'uk, kipie'shie'k shi Te'sinonie'uk shi kite'nI otInume'okumkomwa ki Cwiuk. 1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
17:2 IwcI Pan, e'shcIke't okipitike'ntawan shi, ipi nsuk e'nume'kishkuk, okiwishte'pman shi Kshe'mIne'to ikikitonuk. 2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
17:3 E'witmowat ipi we'we'nI e'iactumwat, nomkItne' Knayst e'wi kwtukitot, ipi, minI e'wipsukwit, e'kinpot, otI cI ie'o Cisus nin me'nwactumonkon oie'o Knayst. 3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
17:4 IwcI anIt kite'pwe'ie'ntumwuk, ipi okiwitokwawan ni PanIn, ipi Sayne'sIn, ipi ke'cmaoce'ticIn, e'nmuancIn Knik nIshInape'k, ipi co kipke'ci shIiwusik, nakanse'cIk kwe'k. 4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
17:5 KicI Cwiuk, kapwate'pwe'ie'ntukuk, kikshawe'ncuke'k, ipi okiwtapnawan anIt ke'kie'patsIncIn nInwun, mamwI kie'patsIncIn, ipi okimaotanawan, maoce'tincIn, ipi caye'k shi kcI-otanuk kiwishkwe'we'ksik, ipi okimikatmoawan e'tanIt Ce'sInIn, e'wi kwcIsakcoonawat e'wisho’tuwawat ni nIshInape'n. 5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

17:7 KotI Ce'sIn kapitike'nacIn, caye'k cI cototsik otpakwnuke'wun SIse'iIn, otI kItwuk, nkot, pkansI kcI okuma, nkot Cisus. 7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
17:8 Ipi kimkoshkate'ntumwuk, ki nIshInape'k ipi nikansimwan shi kcI-otanuk, pic kanotmoat notI ke'ko. 8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
17:9 IwcI kataswat, o Ce'sun ipi ki anIt, kipkItnukaswuk. 9 And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
17:10 IwcI ni wikane'iwan, kie'nup, kinokana wan ni PanIn, ip Sayne'sIn kapkonianuk ipI Pinie'uk kapiawat kipitike'k shi otInume'okumkomwa ki Cwiuk. 10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
17:11 KotI cI wusimI kipite'ntakwsik icI kikaicuk ipI Te'sinonike'uk, osam winwa kipsItanawa i kikitowIn, caye'k, anwaci ne'ntumwun, ipi okintowapitanawa Kshe'mIne'to okikitowun e'tso kishkuk, e'wike'ntumwat tanak notI ke'ko, e'wite'pwe'mkItnuk. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
17:12 IwcI ie'i mce'sh kaocI te'pwe'ie'ntumwat ke'iapI nakanse'cIk knik kwe'k, ipi nInwuk co kipke'cishIiwusik. 12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
17:13 Pic cI ki Cwiuk kaie'cuk Te'sinonike'uk kake'ntumwat Pan, e'mnwactuk Kshe'mIne'to kikitowIn, ipI Pinie'uk, kipie'k shi ke'iapI, ipi okiopwe'awan ni nIshInape'n. 13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.
17:14 IwcI kie'nup ni wikane'iwan okinokanawan PanIn, ke'cwa e'ki shiakasot shi kcu kamik, Sayne's cI ipi Timotius shi me'kwa kiik. 14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.
17:15 KiwcI kapmonacuk ni PanIn, kipie'na wan shi E'tinsuk, icI kakish witmakwat e'wiwitmowawat Sayne'sIn, ipi TimotiusIn kie'nup e'wipianIt shi e'ciIt, kinmamacik. 15 And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.
17:16 Me'kwacI Pan e'ie' pwi iat shi E'tinsuk ocipamIn okim mackakon, pic waptuk i kcI otan, caye'k e'pkItnItsowat me'nIto kat nIncIn. 16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
17:17 IwcI otI, kaocI iakwne'twat, ni CwiIn shi otInume'okumkonmnuk, ipi ni e'nmaancIn, ipi shi e'tshItatuk e'tso kishkuk shiw kankwe'shkakwcIn. 17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
17:18 IwcI anIt ne'pwakacIk nInwuk, kiw Ipkwnie'n ipi stoik nInwuk okiiakwne'takon. Ipi anIt, otI kikItwuk, WikwnicI otI ke'c, ntakakikitot, ke'kItot? anIt ke' pe'kanse'cIk, kikItwuk, ne'ntakwsI, we'ckie'kwe't ni me'matao sIncIn MIne'ton, osam kaocI kie'kwe't ni CisusIn, ipi psukwiwun kanpok. 18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
17:19 IwcI e'kiw otapnawat, ipi okishonawan shi E'niopike'suk, otI cI kikItwuk; ConI otI ntake'ntusimIn, oshke'shIcke'wun, otI kin iactumIn. 19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
17:20 Osam kin kpie'ton me'matawiak ke'ko ntokananuk; ie'i ntIne'ntamIn e'wike'ntumak notI ke'ko we'cnomkuk. 20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
17:21 Osam caye'k ki E'tinsuk nInwuk, ipi pwake'ncIkascuk, shi kaie'cuk, coke'ko oki miktIsinawa, mtIno, e'wi witmake'wat tanake' e'wi psItmowat we'shkianuk, ke'ko. 21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
17:22 IwcI Pan e'kinipwIt, shi na’wiukwan Me's kwutakik,, ipi otI kikito; E'tinsuktI nIn ituk, nmukan kinwa cake'ko, ktosam te'pwe'tanawa. 22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
17:23 E'pmose'ian kiwapmInum, e'numaie'k, nkimkawa, e'tshI sku’umatuk, otI e'shuonIpie'kate'k, WIN KSHE'MINE'TO PWAKE'NTAKWSIT; otI ie'i e'pwa ke'ntume'k, ktInume'kitowawat, Win ke'iactmonum. 23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
17:24 Kshe'mIne'to, kaoshItot kI, ipi cake'ko pic iukwan e'te'nuk, osam win o Te'pe'n tan shpumuk, ipi kI cowi te'si, wikwamuk, onIcima kaoshIcke'k. 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
17:25 Cowike', nInwuk onIciwan ocI nume'ktowasi, ke'cwa e'ntuwe'ntuk ke'ko, osam cak wIiI ominan pmatsuwun, ipi ne'mwun, ipi cake'ko. 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
17:26 Okowshian cak e'shumnIt nInwun, e'nkot nInwuk mskwI, shotI e'icIk caye'k kik, ipi kisha, kishne'ntum e'pwamshu piamkIt nuk pic, ipi wakopmatsInIt. 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
17:27 E'wi ntone'wawat Kshe'mIne'ton tanak, kinaktawe'nmawat ipi mkawawat; co anwI pnociIsi e'tshIikon. 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
17:28 Osam win we'cpmatse'ikon, ipi we'cmacnuwiIkon, ipi we'ciIikon kpmatsiwnunanIn, ke'cwa anIt kinwa ne'kumocIk kakItwat, ke'iapI ninan ntonicansumkonan. 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
17:29 OsomcI kinan e'wi nicansumkoikon Kshe'mIne'to, cosuktashite'asimIn, Kshe'mIne'to shInakwsI, ke'cwa osaw’ shonia, tanake' shonia, tanake', SIn, kamiuk, u’koshuk, nInI, e'shkuke'ntuk. 29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
17:30 Pic cI otI, pwake'ntumuk Kshe'mIne'to okicipikwe'tan, nIshcI nkom, otInan caye'k nInwun e'wikisate'ntusnIt. 30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
17:31 Osam okishwshIston e'kishkiwuk shiw ke'ci tpakwnuk otI kI, shi npwakawunuk, niw nInwun, kawe'napmacIn, kashu witmoat, caye'k nIiwun, i e'kipsukwitnat, e'nponpIt. 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
17:32 IwcI kanotmoat i psukwiwun, e'npok anIt okinapto takon, ipi anIt otI ki kItwuk, minI kupsItonmIn otI katshItmIn. 32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
17:33 IwcI Pan e'kinkInat e'kinmumacit. 33 So Paul departed from among them.
17:34 NIshcI anIt nInwuk, okiwice'okon ipi kite'pwe'ie'ntumwuk, nkot-cI Tayonius E'niapikayt, nInI, ipi nkot kwe', Te'me'nIs, kishInkaso, ipi anIt pe'kanse'cIk. 34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
