Due to the difficulty in making out the age brackets, we have had to eliminate this division. This roll was taken just prior to the Removal.

The following is an incomplete muster roll taken of the Potawatomi Indians after their removal from Indiana to Kansas in 1838. This roll can be found in the National Archives. Unfortunately this copy was faded and difficult to read so could not be printed in its entirety. ***** indicate words which are unreadable.
Vincennes December 18th 1838
Sir,
I have the honor to enclose the muster Roll of the Pottawatomie Indians from Indiana to the Osage Subagency west of Missouri as ****** to A L Davis Esqr US subagent as certified by said agent. I also enclose the copy of a note I addressed to Major Tilly disbursing agent for the emigrating party with his ***, on my waiting on major Hitchcock on my arrival at St. Louis he informed me he was not authorized to adjust my amount and make payment without a special order and advised me that I have them made out and transmitted to your office for your approval. I have endorsed them to my friend gen. John Tipton of the U. S. ***** with a request that he present to you for approval and direction for payment. I am Sir your obed svt
